Prince William and Princess Kate were reportedly forced to “compromise” on their living arrangements, as their “original plan” to reside in Adelaide Cottage was thwarted, according to Royal insiders. The couple, both 43, had initially hoped to raise their three children at Royal Lodge, but Prince Andrew wouldn’t budge.
After leaving Kensington Palace, it’s said that Kate and William had their sights set on moving into the 30-room Royal Lodge with their children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old
Adelaide Cottage is situated about three miles from Royal Lodge, which has been home to Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, since 2003.
A Royal source told the Mail on Sunday: “Them going into Adelaide Cottage was never the plan.
“But they were forced to because Prince Andrew wouldn’t shift.”
The family of five will soon be relocating from Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge, reports the Express.
The move is expected to occur during the upcoming school holidays, providing an ideal time for George, Charlotte, and Louis to acclimate to their new surroundings.
Forest Lodge, similar to Royal Lodge, is nestled in tranquil surroundings, boasting ample woodlands and open space nearby.
The eight-bedroom Georgian mansion is said to offer the family a chance for a “fresh start”.
A reliable Royal insider revealed that the couple is moving to start anew, following a series of personal difficulties in recent years.
The insider stated: “It’s not just about her [Kate’s] cancer, the Queen died while they were living at Adelaide, and there were all the attacks from California.
“They both want a fresh start, and moving to Forest Lodge offers them that.”
